Assessment
How does the assessment process work?

Once it has been established that you are a suitable candidate, our consultant will guide you through the assessment process. You will be required to gather and submit evidence demonstrating your competence. Acceptable forms of evidence may include:

  • Responses to structured questions regarding your experience and skillset
  • Completion of practical tasks designed to assess your knowledge and abilities
  • Payslips supporting the period of employment
  • Supporting documentation such as a resume, workplace documents like a formal job description under a company letterhead specifying job title and job duties
  • Professional references, i.e. Reference letter signed by an appropriate supervisor

The evidence submitted must confirm that you have been employed in the relevant industry for a sufficient duration and are capable of performing the required tasks to an acceptable standard.

Eligibility
What happens if my application for a qualification via RPL is unsuccessful?

A complimentary pre-assessment process is conducted prior to enrolment to determine your eligibility for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). If it is found that you do not meet the eligibility requirements, this will be identified during the pre-assessment stage, before any formal application proceeds.

Timeline
How long does it take to obtain a qualification?

The process of obtaining a qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is often faster than traditional study pathways, and in many cases, can be completed within just a few weeks. The exact timeframe depends on how closely your experience aligns with the qualification requirements and how quickly you're able to provide the necessary evidence.

At RTO Course For Me, you’re never alone in the journey. Our dedicated consultants are here to support you every step of the way—helping you understand exactly what’s needed, guiding you through the documentation process, and making sure everything is submitted securely and efficiently. We take pride in making the experience feel smooth, straightforward, and empowering.

RPL is not just about ticking boxes—it’s about recognising your hard-earned skills and turning them into formal qualifications that can unlock new career opportunities. We’re here to make that happen for you.

Eligibility
Who is eligible to apply for a qualification via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

Individuals who have acquired relevant skills and knowledge through work experience, informal training, or life experience may be eligible to apply for a qualification via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Eligibility generally requires that the applicant can demonstrate competence in relation to the learning outcomes of the qualification.

This includes those who have worked in their industry for a number of years, regardless of whether they hold formal qualifications. A pre-assessment process is conducted to determine suitability before proceeding with a formal application.

Eligibility
I'm a migrant and wish for my prior learning to be recognised in Australia. Is this possible?

Yes, migrants can have their prior learning recognised in Australia through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. RPL allows you to gain a nationally recognised qualification based on the skills and experience you have acquired through previous employment, training, or life experience—regardless of where it was obtained.

If you require a skills assessment for migration purposes, it is essential to first consult the Department of Home Affairs or an expert migration agent to ensure you apply under the correct program for your intended visa subclass. Our team can assist you with finding the right match of migration agents as well. Skills assessments obtained through RPL may be accepted for a range of skilled migration visa subclasses, including:

  • Subclass 189 – Skilled Independent Visa
  • Subclass 190 – Skilled Nominated Visa
  • Subclass 491 – Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa
  • Subclass 482 – Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Visa
  • Subclass 186 – Employer Nomination Scheme Visa
  • Subclass 407 – Training Visa (in some cases)

Each visa subclass may have specific requirements regarding the type of skills assessment needed and the assessing authority. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to seek advice from the Department of Home Affairs or a registered migration agent to ensure your RPL qualification aligns with the requirements of your visa application.
